چکیده
Abstract Fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5) is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues and related to HCC progression. In this study, we analyzed the potential of serum FABP5 (sFABP5) as a tumor marker its clinical significance We compared sFABP5 concentration patients with (HCC group) that hepatitis without (hepatitis group). Moreover, measured expression levels resected (tFABP5) their relationship sFABP5. also performed cell-based assays using knockout overexpressing cell lines analyze effect extrinsic (exFABP5) on cells. showed was not useful for HCC, were correlated. However, tFABP5 significantly correlated survival after surgery while independent each other. assays, exFABP5 taken up by positively affected under glucose-depleted conditions complementing endogenous function. conclusion, had significant impact progression irrespective augmenting viability conditions. As are important factors other progression, both them should be considered independently improving prognosis HCC.

serum levels of fatty acid binding protein 5 decreased in squamous cell lung carcinoma
background: the aberrant expression of dickkopf-1 (dkk1), triose phosphate isomerase (tpi) and fatty acid binding-protein 5 (fabp5) in lung cancer tissues and their presence in secretome of lung cancer cell lines were reported. here, serum levels of these molecules in lung cancer patients were compared to those in a healthy control group. materials and methods: the patients’ group consisted of ...
متن کاملFatty acid‐binding protein 5 function in hepatocellular carcinoma through induction of epithelial–mesenchymal transition
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly prevalent cancer with poor prognosis. The correlation between overexpression of fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5) and malignant potential of tumor growth and metastasis in several cancers has been previously reported. However, the correlation between FABP5 expression and HCC malignant behavior remains unknown. We compared FABP5 expression and patien...
متن کاملStatus of serum alpha feto-protein (AFP) and midkine (MDK) levels in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
Introduction: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is sixth common cancers worldwide and predominant in Asia and Africa. A number of evidence suggests a possible role of midkine (MDK) and α-fetoprotein (AFP) in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and methods: We studied MDK and AFP in patients with HCC or in healthy controls. MDK and AFP was measured by enzyme linked immuno...
متن کاملEvaluation of serum AFP (α-fetoprotein) level in HBsAg carrier patients for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is common all over the world as well as Iran. The incidence of HCC is higher in hepatitis B carriers and it is highly recommended to periodically screen these patients by serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and liver ultrasound (US) every 6 months. We explore the diagnostic accuracy and the performance of (AFP) in cases of hepatitis B carriers as a scree...
متن کاملLiver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) promotes cellular angiogenesis and migration in hepatocellular carcinoma
Liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) is abundant in hepatocytes and known to be involved in lipid metabolism. Overexpression of L-FABP has been reported in various cancers; however, its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. In this study, we investigated L-FABP and its association with vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) in 90 HCC patients. We found that L-FABP wa...
